About US
Sheffield Movie Makers has been supporting filmmakers of all abilities and aspirations since 1949!
We welcome anyone who has ever thought about being 'in the movies' in any way imaginable. Maybe you have an idea for a script, want to have a go at lighting or sound, feel you are destined to be the next 'Mr Spielberg' or simply have a camcorder or DSLR gathering dust because you're not sure how to use its features? It could be that you have amassed a pile of family or holiday film clips on your smart phone and you're not sure what to do with them? Sheffield Movie Makers can help!
We would also love to hear from you if you are a seasoned filmmaker looking for a friendly bunch of fellow filmmakers with whom you can share your experiences, hints and tips.
We meet weekly between October and April, where we learn from occasional guest speakers or from each other, take part in competitions between ourselves and other local and regional filmmaking clubs and generally have an enjoyable time. There is a small annual subscription (an unfortunate necessity to pay for room hire and a few sundry overheads) but if you're not a member you're more than welcome to visit us for a handful of evenings for free to see what we're all about! We're certain you'll enjoy it!
